A 3.5-mile paved trail that extends from the heart of South Bend to the Michigan state line, the LaSalle Trail is a great option for an easy hike or bike ride. The trail traverses city parks, suburban neighborhoods and forested rural areas, offering some beautiful scenery along the way. Parking is available at its many trailheads near these South Bend homes for sale. • Lydick Bog - 25898 US-20, South Bend, IN 46628

The preserve encompasses a dramatic glacial landscape, including kettle-hole ponds and large boulders left behind as the glaciers melted thousands of years ago. An excellent bird-watching area, Lydick Bog also offers unique and varied plant life, like wild cranberry and pitcher plants.

  • Warren Dunes State Park - 12032 Red Arrow Highway, Sawyer, MI 49125

It's a truly stunning park that provides some of the best hiking trails in the region—6 miles in total—that crisscross peaceful woodlands overlooking the lake. The park's forests are perched atop a series of towering sand dunes that loom 260 feet above the lakeshore, and the views from the top are truly stunning, especially at sunset.
