St. Patrick's Day is a favorite holiday, often celebrated with Irish food and lots of beer, green or otherwise. If you're looking for a traditional Irish pub to go to this St. Paddy's Day, South Bend has plenty to choose from! Here are four local favorites recommended by our real estate agents.
- Corby's Irish Pub
Located at 441 East Lasalle Avenue in South Bend, Corby's Irish Pub got its name and theme from the movie Rudy, a story about a Notre Dame football star. The bar scenes were shot at the real-life Corby's, giving the pub its new identity. Today it's the perfect place to go for a little late-night celebration, with beer on tap, shots, cocktails, and of course every college student's favorite: pizza. Corby's is open Tuesday through Thursday from 3 pm until midnight, Friday and Saturday from 3 pm until 3 am, and Sunday from 5 pm until midnight.
- O'Rourke's
Enjoy quintessential Irish fare as well as other typical pub grub at this traditional Irish pub. Look for fun menu items such as Da'Blarney (Rueben sandwich) and Cod We Be Friends (battered fish sandwich), and traditional favorites such as Scotch eggs, fish 'n' chips, shepherd's pie, and Guinness beef stew. Located at 1044 East Angela Boulevard and opening at 11 am every day, O'Rourke's is the perfect place to stop for a bite to eat after visiting South Bend homes for sale. The pub opens closes at midnight Monday through Thursday, 1 am Fridays and Saturdays, and 10 pm on Sundays.
- Kelly's Pub
If you're looking for a traditional pub with a hometown feel, check out Kelly's Pub. This neighborhood bar offers a variety of drinks, pizza, typical pub food such as fish, pool tables, live music, and reasonable prices in keeping with a humble neighborhood bar. Located at 1150 Mishawaka Avenue in South Bend, Kelly's Pub is open every day from noon until 3 am.
- Finnies Next Door Bar and Grill
If you're looking for a fun, energetic place to celebrate St. Paddy's Day, look no farther than next door, as in Finnies Next Door! Located at 233 South Main Street in South Bend, his Irish sports pub offers everything from beers and cocktails, to pool, darts, and air hockey. Enjoy it all to live music and local DJs in more of a club-like atmosphere. Hours are a little reduced right now due to the pandemic, with Finnies only being open to the public on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday evenings. From their Facebook page, Sundays through Tuesdays are reserved for private events, and Wednesdays are by reservation only.
