January
31

Snow flurries and chilly weather are no match for a comforting, steamy bowl of soup. Visit these South Bend restaurants for the perfect escape.

Nothing warms you up like a hot bowl of good soup, so it's probably unsurprising that January is National Soup Month. But cold weather sticks around long after January is gone, so really, every day in the winter is soup day! If the cold is getting to you today, here are five great places our real estate agents recommend for warming up with soup in South Bend.

  • Cafe Nevarre
For something a little more upscale, visit Cafe Nevarre, located at 101 North Michigan Street in South Bend. The soup course has several options so delicious, you'll wish for a big bowl of it as your entire meal! Current options include wild mushroom, authentic French onion, and an exotic carrot soup. Cafe Nevarre is open for dinner seven days a week, starting at 4 pm and closing between 9 and 10:30 every night.

  • The Lauber
If you appreciate small-batch, house-made soup, check out The Lauber's offerings. This popular South Bend restaurant is located at 504 East LaSalle Avenue, making it a perfect place to stop for lunch or dinner after visiting South Bend homes for sale. They offer house-made chicken dumpling soup as well as a rotating seasonal soup, available as either a cup or a bowl. The Lauber is open from 11 am until 10 pm Monday through Saturday, and 11 am until 9 pm on Sunday.

  • Zoup!
It may be a chain, but it's one of the best places to go if you love soup. Located not in South Bend, but at 4334 Grape Road in neighboring Mishawaka, Zoup! is nevertheless one of the best places to go if you truly love soup. Choose from more than half a dozen different soups, some of which are staples and others that rotate daily. Sample different soups to help you make a decision, and if you still can't decide, get a combo meal and try two different soups. Zoup! is open from 11 am until 8 pm Monday through Saturday.
  • Nom Nom Pho Asian Kitchen
Anyone who has ever had pho knows what an excellent cold-weather soup it is for warming up. At Nom Nom Pho, you'll have plenty of different varieties of pho to choose from. Choose from beef, chicken, seafood, or vegetarian pho, or get plain pho if you just want the noodle soup with none of the toppings. If pho isn't your thing, there are other noodle soups available as well, including several different kinds of ramen and tom yum noodle soups. Located at 213 North Main Street in South Bend, Nom Nom Pho is open from 11:30 am until 9 pm Tuesday through Thursday, and 11:30 am until 10 pm on Fridays.

  • Cre-Asian
If you love spicy Asian food and soup, check out Cre-Asian. This popular South Bend restaurant offers a blend of Asian cuisines, and their Vietnamese menu includes the ever-popular pho noodle soup. Order basic pho in either regular or large size with a variety of choices of meat, or choose from one of their specialty pho, such as pho satay or pho stew beef. Other soups on the menu include udon, tom yum, and egg noodle soups. Located at 1639 North Ironwood Drive in South Bend, Cre-Asian is open from 11 am until 8:30 pm Monday through Thursday, and from 11 am until 9 pm Friday and Saturday.

Nothing beats back chilly weather like the warmth of a welcoming community with lots of great indie restaurants. Contact us today to start looking for your dream home in South Bend.
