Few things hit the spot as good as classic American dishes, especially during the cold months. Here are local restaurants to support this winter.

With cold weather finally setting in, no doubt you're hankering for some good, hot comfort food. There are a number of restaurants in South Bend and neighboring Granger that'll fit the bill. Check out these recommendations from our real estate agents, and enjoy the cozy comfort food all winter long.

  • Bistro 933
Located at 53995 Indiana State Route 933 on the way into town, you'll find Bistro 933 housed inside the Hilton Garden Inn. You can eat there in the cozy dining room, order food to be brought to your room if you're staying in the hotel, or order through GrubHub or Seamless to have your comfort food delivered right to your door — something to remember as you're searching South Bend homes for sale. Bistro 933 offers a rotating menu that changes with the season and current trends, with traditional American fares such as burgers, pasta, steak, chicken, and fish. Nightly specials offer opportunities for fun traditions, such as Taco Tuesdays and All-You-Can-Eat Fish Fry Fridays. Bistro 933 is open for breakfast every morning at 7 am and continues serving until 10 am on weekdays and 11 am on weekends. Dinner hours are 5 pm until 10 pm daily.

  • South Bend Brew Werks
It may sound contrary, but there's nothing like a cold craft beer to keep you warm on a winter day. Pair it with artisanal quality food with locally sourced ingredients, and you get South Bend Brew Werks. The seasonally-inspired menu turns traditional pub food on its head with new takes on traditional favorites. Enjoy gourmet grilled cheeses, pasta dishes, flatbread pizzas, and other go-to comfort foods. Located at 321 South Main Street in South Bend, Brew Werks is open Wednesday and Thursday from noon until 10 pm, Friday and Saturday from noon until 11 pm, and Sunday from noon until 8 pm.

  • The Lauber
No other cuisine is more popular or more comforting than pizza, and the owners of The Lauber know it. Named after the founder of the sheet metal shop that once inhabited the building, The Lauber serves artisan and thin crust pizza as well as a variety of appetizers, bowls, and sandwiches. Wash your food down with your choice of local craft beer, or opt for one of their signature drinks, new twists on old favorites. Located at 504 East Lasalle Avenue, The Lauber is open Monday through Thursday 11 am until 10 pm, Friday and Saturday from 11 am until 11 pm, and Sundays from 11 am until 9 pm.

  • Rocky River Tap and Table
South Bend doesn't hold a monopoly on good food! In nearby Granger, you'll love what you eat with Rocky River's farm-to-fork cuisine. Here, you can enjoy locally sourced food and drink, from the craft beer you order to the ingredients in your meal. The menu offers a variety of pub food and comfort food, from appetizers and burgers to pot pies and meatloaf. You'll even find trendy dishes such as soba noodles. Located at 1032 East University Drive, Rocky River Tap and Table is perfect for stopping in after seeing Granger homes for sale. Hours are from 11 am until 9 pm Sunday through Thursday, and 11 am until 10 pm Friday and Saturday.

Indiana Foodies will find no better place than South Bend and Granger, two places with thriving restaurant culture. If home is where the heart is, but the way to the heart is through the stomach, then you'll be right at home here, surrounded by good food and a cozy community!
