South Bend Bakeries - Cressy & Everett Real Estate

Homer Simpson has a lot of peculiar ideas, but his love of donuts is one we heartily endorse. Our real estate agents can't wait to celebrate National Cream-Filled Donut Day on Saturday, September 14 with a sweet treat from one of these delectable donut shops in the South Bend area. Which flavor will you choose?

  1. West End Bakery - 414 W. 7th St., Mishawaka 46544
When a bakery has been in business for more than 90 years, they must be pretty good at what they do. Adolf and Mary Fobe opened West End Bakery in 1928 and their grandson Greg carries on their tradition today, not far from Mishawaka homes for sale. Generations of local families have turned to West End Bakery for apple fritters, chocolate-glazed donuts, and other baked treats as well as their specialty wedding and birthday cakes. Hours at West End Bakery are 7 a.m. - 4 p.m. every day but Sunday.

  2. New Age Baking Company - 125 E. Michigan St., New Carlisle 46552
New Age Baking Company may have a contemporary name, but Owner and Founder No' Val Alexander has a traditional mission to offer high-quality baked goods at a fair price. Customers rave about the maple-glazed donuts and cinnamon rolls that are twice the average size. Pick up one of their house-made pizzas for a quick and tasty dinner after a day of viewing New Carlisle homes for sale. New Age Baking Company is open 11 a.m. - 6 p.m. Wednesday and 8 a.m. - 8 p.m. Thursday through Saturday.

  3. Rise'n Roll Bakery - 1065 N. 1150 W., Middlebury 46540
In 2001, a young Amish couple began selling fresh baked goods from the porch of their home. Using recipes handed down in the wife's family, the couple made all items by hand with no electricity, refrigeration, or modern conveniences. After the business blossomed into Rise'n Roll Bakery, it changed hands in 2009 but the new owner still operates "the old-fashioned way." Stop in for one of the signature cinnamon caramel donuts before heading out to tour Middlebury homes for sale. Rise'n Roll Bakery is open 7 a.m. - 5 p.m. weekdays and 7 a.m. - 4 p.m. Saturday.

  4. Dutch Maid Bakery - 508 W. Lincoln Ave., Goshen 46526
Spend a lazy Saturday morning reading over a donut and coffee at Dutch Maid Bakery, just minutes from Goshen homes for sale. The cozy interior, with comfy seating arranged around a stone fireplace, encourages guests to linger with a good book or good conversation. Select from an extensive donut menu featuring cake, yeast, and twist varieties along with cream-filled Bismarcks and Long Johns. Hours at Dutch Maid Bakery are 6 a.m. - 8 p.m. every day but Sunday.

  5. Chicory Café - 105 E. Jefferson Blvd., South Bend 46601
Enjoy some New Orleans flair with a visit to Chicory Café, centrally located to South Bend homes for sale. Customers can't get enough of the beignets, light and airy square donuts made to order and finished with a dusting of powdered sugar. Enjoy with a traditional café au lait or one of the other exotic coffee drinks prepared by the baristas. Chicory Café is open 6:30 a.m. - 9 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 6:30 a.m. - 11 p.m. Friday, 8 a.m. - 11 p.m. Saturday and 9 a.m. - 9 p.m. Sunday.
